Dear Visitor,

I've gathered here some questions and answers that are often asked as well as other useful information about this site and about Danceportraits.

• Who is Danceportraits?

  Danceportraits is just me - Alec Myers. If you want to get in touch with me you'll find all my details on the Contact page which you can reach via the link at the top right of every page on the site. I very much enjoy hearing from customers past and future so please don't be shy!

• I don't want my (or my child's) picture on this website - what should I do?

  Send me an email via the contact page and I'll remove it. Or ask your parent to do it. It's very helpful if you can include the image number(s).

• What are acceptable reasons for asking for my (or my child's) picture(s) to be removed?

  Any reasons you like! Maybe you don't like the photographs, or maybe you do but don't want other people to see them. Or something else - you don't have to tell me (but it's helpful if you do).

• What do people say about your service?

  I've put a few customer comments up here for you to read if you're interested.

• How long does it take to deliver my pictures?

  I try to get pictures sent out within a week of the order. If your order has 8x10 or 8x12 enlargements it can take a bit longer. If you need them by a particular date (for a birthday present for example) it helps if you let me know when you place the order.

• For how long do pictures stay on the website?

  Usually not longer than a year.

• Can I buy (or have) electronic (jpg) copies of the pictures?

  For some events only. More details are here.

• Do you mean what you say about giving refunds if I don't like the prints?

  Absolutely. Everyone has different ways to judge a photograph, and sometimes it's not possible to tell from the on-screen image exactly how a print will turn out. I'd rather people were comfortable in ordering a print knowing that if for any reason it doesn't match up to their expectations they can send it back to me.

• Why aren't there any pictures of me/my child?

  Unfortunately it's impossible to get a good picture of everyone at an event or competition for a whole long list of different reasons. I'm happy to take requests at events if you see me, so do come and say hello.

• Can you provide canvas prints or very big enlargements? How much do they cost?

  Yes, any photographs can be printed on to canvas or enlarged to any size you like. As a guide, figure on about £300 per square metre of area (height x width) - the same as for an 8x12 print - but do ask for a specific quote as the exact price will vary on medium, finish etc.

• What's your "data protection policy"?

  This site has no personal data apart from the pictures themselves; I have no information about the identity of the dancers. If you place an order then I only ask for and keep the customer information I need to fulfil the order (like the address to which send the prints.) All payment details and card numbers are entered directly to the website of either Paypal or Google and I never see them. Any information I do have is kept private and not distributed to any third parties.

• Why do you ask for email addresses and phone numbers?

  It's helpful to have an email address and a telephone number with your order so I can call or email if there's a problem. At present I don't have an email or telephone marketing policy so you won't get any communications from me that aren't directly related to your order, and if I do start a mailing list in the future then the first communication will ask you if you want to opt-in to future emails. Either way, your details are kept private and won't be disclosed to any third party.

• Where can I find the lyrics to Ilarie and at what time is it played?

  Here, and about a quarter past two.
